To mark the 20-year anniversary of Bricsys we thought it would be apt to take a walk down memory lane and look at the ways in which the business, and our products, have evolved and grown over the years.
Whilst anniversaries like this often inspire reflection, we continue to look forward and focus on the future. In true Bricsys style, our relentless development and innovation is set to continue, and we’re excited for what is coming next… watch this space!
The very beginning
Founded in 2002 by Erik de Keyser, Bricsys began developing a revolutionary CAD software, BricsCAD. In 2004, the product now known as Bricsys 24/7 was released. It was originally named Vondle and was the starting point for Bricsys’ cloud-based (SaaS) Common Data Environment (CDE) for document management and workflow automation.
Shortly after Vondle’s release, all previous iterations of our CAD software and their various identities were superseded by the product we know and love today: BricsCAD! V5 of our CAD software, by now simply named ‘BricsCAD’ arrived on the market in June 2004. Our mission from the very beginning has been to build cost-effective, mission-critical CAD tools. Now as a part of the global technology giant Hexagon AB, we are reinforcing our commitment to your design workflows by striving further develop our solutions in ways that truly delight our users.

BricsCAD in a language that suits you
Bricsys is a truly global company, and as such, BricsCAD is available globally in 14 languages. We have dedicated spaces in the Bricsys Forum for other languages, and we provide support and materials directly to our customers in their native language.
The Bricsys global footprint
The Bricsys Global Headquarters was established in 2002 in Ghent, Belgium. Alongside it’s opening, our Russian development center in Nizhny Novgorod was also established in 2002. Our global footprint has changed quite a bit since the early noughties. Check out the map below to see how we’ve grown!

Starting as a small team in 2002, Bricsys soon saw growth in its numbers over the years. As of 2022, we currently have over 300 employees worldwide.

The Bricsys partner network is made up of 225 fantastic resellers and distributors. Each reseller is knowledgeable and passionate about CAD. Members of the partner network are carefully selected and supported to ensure customers are always given the best experience possible and can access the best BricsCAD solution for their specific and unique needs.
The Bricsys developer community
We at Bricsys call our developer community the Bricsys Collective. It is a group of over 600 global solution developers, both corporate and commercial, who develop over 1,500 application products that run on BricsCAD. These applications are created by industry experts to help you get your work done accurately and quickly. From drawing management to structural analysis, you can very likely find the perfect applications to speed your workflow.

BricsCAD has had 22 version releases since it came to the market. Each also including a ‘mid-season’ release with a host of fixes, improvements and new features. We are proud to add a great deal of value with each of our updates and always take our user feedback on board… you are the product and requirement experts around here!
