Bricsys showcases reality capture workflows on BricsCAD

At Bricsys, we’re always working hard to improve our products and bring value to our users. So this year, we were especially excited to showcase our solutions to a live audience at HxGN Live. For designers, we focused on our BricsCAD’s product lines which help users to produce high quality drawings and models using our 2D CAD and 3D BIM tools. For construction professionals, we showcased Bricsys® 24/7, a cloud-based platform that provides real-time collaboration and coordination between project teams.

We received a lot of interest from design and construction professionals. In addition, and thanks to the large presence of our friends at Leica demonstrating their latest laser hardware, surveyors took the most interest in this session because they are looking to advance their reality capture workflows. We were delighted by their response, and we are excited to continue serving this community. Leica's scanners and other hardware are known for their precision and quality, making them essential tools for surveyors. Our BricsCAD software is designed to complement Leica’s products, and this combination means surveyors capture can accurate data more efficiently via reality capture workflows. We're really excited to see the innovative and creative ways in which surveying professionals use our technology.

Hexagon's extended portfolio – laser-scanning UAV drones and Bricsys

We had a great time at HxGN Live, providing information about our company and products, while learning a lot from the product booths around us. Smart Build Insight is a powerful 4D planning and management tool, while Smart Build Controls adds the element of cost and enhances your models into 5D BIM. OxBlue and MultiVista both provide reality capture services and solutions, such as time-lapse cameras, 360-degree photography and laser scanning. We even had the opportunity to see Boston Dynamics' famous robot dog "Spot" in action with a Leica scanner on its back! Another cool sighting from Leica was the new BLK2FLY laser-scanning UAV drone, which allows you to scan hard-to-access or reach areas like building facades and rooftops.

Live session - Bricsys for building design and construction

Away from on the main floor, we also spent time engaging with audiences who attended our live sessions. Peter Koncz, Go-To-Market Lead for BIM and Building Design, presented on why companies are upgrading to BricsCAD for building design and construction. We had a full house at this session, and we showcased the BricsCAD and Bricsys® 24/7 solutions. The main takeaway from this session was that AEC customers are increasingly witnessing their software expenditure to increase, but these new costs from other CAD suppliers are not matched with improved features. We noted a lot of frustration with legacy CAD providers being too busy maintaining the status quo for their bottom line. So, we were excited to share our solutions, and importantly, our innovative workflows and highly competitive pricing.

Live Session - Bricsys and Leica capture a new reality together

Cathi Hayes, Vice-President of Bricsys’ Go-to-Market team, and Eric Richie, Product Manager for Leica Geosystems Reality Capture Software, delivered an insightful session for surveyors who need to perform reality capture workflows. Using BricsCAD and Leica Cloudworx, construction professionals can use their Leica laser scanners on a variety of high-value workflows, such as scan-to-BIM, scan-to-TIN, scan-to-plan, and scan-to-verify. For customers looking for a large variety of point-cloud tools, BricsCAD and Cloudworx is the winning solution. Eric Richie also led a live hands-on training session for a small group to try out the powerful combination of these two solutions for surveys requiring exacting reality capture.

Live Session - Bricsys for civil and survey

For civil engineers, Rick Ellis, BricsCAD’s Civil Platform Product owner, showed audiences why and how land surveyors and civil engineers are adopting BricsCAD as their 2D and 3D platform of choice. A full package of civil software is not required by all parts of the civil construction sector, and Rick showcased some examples of specific workflows done entirely in BricsCAD Pro. Of course, for designers who need full-featured civil and survey solutions, Rick demonstrated the BricsCAD solution with our partner applications from solution developers.

Live Session - Bricsys for mechanical design

And finally, Cliff Brown, BricsCAD’s Mechanical Product owner, delivered a rousing presentation about the state of the industry. In his review, Cliff noted that nearly all successful manufacturers are engaged in some type of digital transformation. The challenge experienced for many is to find software solutions that offer just the right combination of capabilities, ease-of-use and cost. With BricsCAD, you can turn unintelligent drawings and manual processes into intelligent design assets and optimized workflows to ensure that digital transformation is a realistic, beneficial and an achievable goal.

This year's HxGN Live was a thrill to participate at - specially to attend a live event once more. Meeting so many customers, colleagues and new friends was an absolute pleasure; we shared the passion we put into our solutions at Bricsys, Leica and the wider Hexagon portfolio.

We can't wait to see you for next year's HxGN Live event! Preview 2023's edition
