New features
- Printing A preview button has been added to the print dialog.
- Structural elements BricsCAD Shape adds GOST standard steel metric profiles for the creation of linear solids / structural elements.
- Layers panel A lock icon was added to the panel to allow more flexible use of layers.
Improvements
- Camera facing blocks The initial orientation has become more intuitive and the block now rotates continuously over 360 degrees instead of flipping over at 180 degrees.
Fixes
- Quad When approaching the Quad, it could unexpectedly disappear before your cursor reached it. We convinced it to be less shy.
- Localization Hyperlinks on the getstarted panel now point directly to the localized pages on the Bricsys website.

Version 18.2.15 | Jun 11, 2018 |
New features
- Easy wall creationThe multi-functional “Shape” tool can be used for the easy creation of walls, slabs and structural elements. Select your start point, move the cursor to the next point and Shape automatically creates
mitered wall connections.
- Smart modeling tools
- BIM Drag is a smart direct modelling tool with many uses. BIM Drag lets you change the height and width of walls easily.
- Use the BIM Connect tool to connect disjoint walls. Highlight any face, and the "Connect with Nearest" tool makes it happen.
- Push/Pull is a basic modelling tool. It's a local editor for single solid
- The Extrude tool creates 3D elements from 2D line work.
- Windows and Doors
- BricsCAD Shape includes a collection of doors and windows in the components library. You can change the size and location.
- You can create custom windows easily in BricsCAD Shape.
- MaterialsBricsCAD Shape includes a collection of materials and color swatches in the materials library. Drag the material onto the model element, and release the mouse button.
- Components
- You can drag and drop content from the right-side panel directly into your BricsCAD Shape session.
- You can import 3D models from any source, or create your own.
- The default components family consists of: Furniture, People, Landscaping, Transportation
- Quick tips Quick tips helps you navigating through the Shape interface and explore all Shape’s tools and functionalities.
- Layers Using Layers to group model elements is a time-tested way to organize 3D models. Toggling layers is a simple way to isolate model elements, to help with navigation and viewing.
- Control the visualisations of your model
- BricsCAD Shape uses Visual Styles to control the appearance of your model.
- In the Visual Styles panel, you can change the perspective view. Moving the perspective slider all the way to the left will turn perspective off.
- The Quality slider controls the on-screen rendering quality of your model
- Smart cursors
- The Quad cursor puts context-sensitive commands at your cursor position, in real-time.
- The Manipulator is a visual tool that rotates, moves, or mirrors solid elements, around or along a single axis.
- Structural shapes
- BricsCAD Shape includes a full set of American (AISC), British (BS) and European (EURO) structural steel profiles.
- These include circular and rectangular hollows, structural beams, angles, tees and channels. All of these profiles are fully parametric, and can be extruded to create solid structural elements.
