What a year 2021 has been! Another unprecedented year for us all, where the importance of collaboration and innovation has never been clearer. With so much going on throughout the year, you might have missed something! But not to worry, our 2021 roundup will get you up to speed on all of the action 2021 had in store for Bricsys®.

What happened at Bricsys® 2021?

January

We kicked off the year by making some New Year's Resolutions! We're pleased to say that we stuck to all of them... we promise!

Plus, we expanded the Bricsys team with some new appointments across the globe, welcoming Pongpeera Chawalathawat as Head of Territory Sales, ASEAN; and Patrick Burgun as Country Manager for DACH.  To top it all off, we announced 2 new members of the Bricsys reseller channel, in the United Kingdom and in North America.

February

In February we saw Melanie Stone, known as 'Mistress of the Dorkness' by her followers, give her blog readers some helpful tips and tricks on how to get the most from their BricsCAD license, whilst maximizing productivity and minimizing clicks!

Melanie showed us how to reduce clicks and save time when erasing in BricsCAD.

March

March got underway with a webinar series introducing BricsCAD and giving an exciting live demo by one of our resident building information modeling (BIM) specialists.

If you ever miss out on one of our webinars or can't make the live event, be sure to check out Bricsys YouTube channel as we will upload recordings here for you to browse on-demand.

We wrapped up the month hearing how Willemen Construct relies on BricsCAD BIM as its trusted tool to help deliver on this promise. Willemen Construct is one of Belgium's largest construction companies and BricsCAD BIM is their tool of choice for Building Information Modeling.

April

Did we trick you with our April Fool's joke? We began the month with a spoof article that we hope injected some light-hearted fun into your working week! We're just hoping that you weren't sat yelling 'Hello Bricsly' at your device for too long.

This was 2021 at Bricsys- April-800x377

Jokes aside, April was a busy month for the Bricsys team and we held our first 'Stay Connected Student Design Challenge'. Inspired by the new norm of social distancing and lockdowns across the globe, we asked students to design something in BricsCAD that could help people stay connected without touch.

We received some great designs from all over the world and we had a panel of judges made up of industry experts: a robotics engineer, a medical doctor, a CAD expert, and a technical illustrator. First prize went to a 16-year-old student from India who had never used CAD before! He won €1000 and a prototype of his design. You can check the winning entries for more information.

Sticking with the theme of socially distanced fun, we held our first digital 'speed-dating' event with our teams around the world. Using an online platform, we adopted some of the well-known practices of speed-dating as a way to mingle and meet colleagues from far-flung teams globally!

To wrap up April, we announced two new members of the Bricsys reseller channel, in Australia and France.

May

In May, SourceCAD showed us a simple method of making a 3D pipe joint in BricsCAD.

We announced that Focus PLM, the Aras Gold Partner that develops and distributes Direct PLM---a complete set of connectors between the innovative PLM platform Aras Innovator and the most popular MCAD systems on the market---officially released a new version, 2021.1, that supports BricsCAD.

June

In June, we saw Tolga Özuygur's latest project using BricsCAD, where he made a photo frame that held a stern picture of Prof. Dr. Ugur Şahin, German oncologist and immunologist and CEO of BioNTech. Sounds pretty normal for 2021, right? Well... this picture flips to a smiling face each time somebody in Turkey received a COVID-19 vaccination!

We rounded June off with a visit to BIM World in Paris, together with Leica Geosystems. It was fantastic to meet our users in person, demo our workflow-revolutionizing solutions, and get back out to IRL events once again!

July

In July, Rahul Kejriwal, Head of Bricsys, was invited as a guest on the BuildingSMART International Podcast. Listen here, as Rahul talks about his journey and how Bricsys is expanding around the globe. Find out how important IFC is to Bricsys and the varying applications developed by a strong developer team.

Our Bricsys reseller channel continued to grow with the addition of a new reseller in France

We also traveled to the Netherlands to record footage for an upcoming user story with the team at Rots Maatwerk. Rots Maatwerk creates distinctive projects for outdoor spaces, such as fountains, squares, furniture, and art projects. Keep a close eye out for the video case study coming in early 2022 to discover how BricsCAD enhances Rots Maatwerk's workflows and processes at every stage!

September

September was a month for socializing with colleagues as some local restrictions were eased after a strict start to the year! After a long time, colleagues in Ghent could finally meet up again during the Bricsys after-work gathering, fuelled by ample food and drink, of course.

In the UK, the team held a summer BBQ at the Hexagon offices in Swindon. It was wonderful to catch up and share some laughter over BBQ grub, face-to-face!

To close off September, we welcomed a new member to the Bricsys reseller channel, in North America.

October

We kicked off October with some team building in the form of the 'Antwerp 10 miles' run in Belgium, alongside over twenty thousand participants! We won't tell you the team's finishing places, but it's safe to say that we are impressed with their efforts and they certainly earnt the celebratory frites and waffles they tucked into post-race!

And of course, October is the time of year when we come together for Bricsys®'s annual conference. This year, due to the ongoing pandemic and some great feedback from 2020, we kept the conference digital, allowing more users than ever to get involved globally!

The Bricsys® Digital Summit 2021 was comprised of over 5 hours of live video broadcast, and a huge range of in-depth breakout sessions which took a deep dive into the technical aspects of BricsCAD.  We heard from product leaders, technical experts, and industry names, walking us through this year's developments and product innovation.

Didn't catch the Bricsys Digital Summit live? Not to worry, you can stream it on-demand on the Bricsys YouTube Channel, or check out our blog series which covers the technical breakout sessions from the summit.

We also got into the spooky spirit this Halloween, with a scarily good build from our resident creative, Rose Barfield!

And last but by no means least, October brought us the much-anticipated release of BricsCAD® V22! The latest release brings new levels of performance and innovation to the heart of the BricsCAD product family, improving the design, construction, and manufacturing workflows. For full details, be sure to check the release notes.
