Realserve chooses BricsCAD® for precision drafting and data versatility

With BricsCAD, Realserve has cut drafting time by up to 20% and saved 15% in licensing costs.

Since 2001, Realserve has delivered accurate building and land surveys to Australia’s commercial property sector. Specializing in as-built documentation, the company is a trusted source of precise spatial data that architects, engineers, and property professionals rely on to plan, design, and manage commercial and industrial assets with confidence.

The Challenge

Realserve faced several challenges with their previous CAD software, including inflexible licensing options, inefficiencies in handling diverse data types, and slow support response times.

"With our previous CAD supplier, it was a case of raising a support ticket and waiting for a response, which could take up to 3 to 5 days," explained Michael Larobina, CEO at Realserve.

The Solution

In a smooth switch, Realserve teams deployed BricsCAD® without delays to their project timelines.

“As far as the transition process goes from the older CAD system into BricsCAD, it was a lot smoother than I had first anticipated. Within about a day, we were up and running,” said Ian Nguyen, General Manager – Victoria at Realserve.

Key benefits included:

User-friendly, customizable, DWG-based CAD
The Realserve team quickly got to work in BricsCAD’s familiar, compatible software environment with productivity tools to optimize imported data and improve the quality, accuracy, and performance of DWG files. Realserve surveyors easily customized their workspaces and imported their old user interfaces into the new BricsCAD software.

Seamless integration of CAD, point cloud, and photo-viewing technologies
Realserve was able to streamline workflows with BricsCAD’s unified platform to combine 2D drafting, 3D modeling, BIM, and Civil/Survey tools.

Hardware compatibility for 3D laser scanning
Workflows in BricsCAD are compatible with a wide range of scanners, enabling Realserve to work directly with point clouds in E57 formats, as generated by their existing equipment.

Robust technical support from local partner
CADApps Australia, a Bricsys Official Partner, played an instrumental role in supporting Realserve throughout the transition period to BricsCAD.

Flexible, cost-effective licensing model
Realserve picked the model that works best for them, choosing from single and networked licenses with perpetual and subscription options.

In their day-to-day work, Realserve surveyors use BricsCAD for precision drafting, coordinate geometry (COGO), TIN surfaces, and integrated external survey data.

“The biggest benefit is that we can use total station data, point cloud data, and drone data all in one software. Everything is in just one spot, and anyone can open it and understand the data,” said Felix Tovar, BIM and CAD Team Manager at Realserve.

Realserve has also found BricsCAD’s technical support resolves issues swiftly and ensures minimal downtime.

“We’re able to either send an email or put a phone call through and have someone attend to our support needs straight away. And that makes a big difference, because if we’ve got an issue, it generally means somebody’s not able to work on a project and that’s costing us money,” said Larobina.

Results

Since implementing BricsCAD, Realserve has seen improved efficiency in their workflows and drafting speed, coupled with lower operating costs:

10-20% decrease in drafting time
Surveyors needed less time for drafting thanks to fewer system lags and crashes.

15% reduction in CAD software costs
Saving on licensing enabled Realserve to reinvest in other business areas—such as technology, training, and staff—leading to better productivity and customer service.

Realserve uses BricsCAD Lite, BricsCAD Pro, and BricsCAD BIM in their work. This integration eliminated the need for multiple software programs, further streamlining operations.

Moving forward, Realserve plans to continue leveraging BricsCAD’s capabilities to drive further growth and innovation.

“It’s a more efficient and streamlined system to operate. Anyone who needs to touch a CAD-based system in their day-to-day should consider BricsCAD,” concluded Nguyen.
