Today we are talking to Ton Vissers of Avans University of Applied Sciences, also an intensive user of Bricsys 24/7.
“I think it’s a great environment”, Ton says right at the start of the conversation. “It’s very user-friendly and it basically does exactly what we need. At the time, we came into contact with Bricsys 24/7 through our architect. They managed our new building in Bricsys 24/7 and we then ‘piggybacked’ on their surroundings for a while. That was fine in itself, but at the same time we did not want to become too dependent on one party for the management of all our project documents. That’s when we decided that from now on we wanted to have our own Bricsys 24/7 environment.”
User-friendly and intuitive
“We started with the smallest Bricsys 24/7 subscription and have set up a nice basis for this: a clear folder structure and all the roles that come with a project in our case. Remarkably, we never actually had any training; it’s so user-friendly that it’s self-explanatory. The required data storage could also grow nicely with our needs.
In the beginning it was a bit of a search for the most logical layout, but we have now found it and we now use it as a template for every new project.
In total we have 15 construction projects spread over three cities. Six to seven of these are active projects that are currently running through Bricsys 24/7. Everything we do in terms of construction projects we do with Bricsys 24/7: from small renovation to complete development and new construction.
The technical management and maintenance is of course not included, but as soon as an architect or constructor is involved, we use Bricsys 24/7. We use it for various files: .dwg, .pdf, .ifc, basically everything. We also organise other things such as mail, notifications and revision management in Bricsys 24/7.”
Use templates over and over again
Ton shows what they are currently doing at Avans, and indeed: all projects are organized in a uniform way in Bricsys 24/7, including the Onderwijsboulevard that will be realized on the other side of the building in Den Bosch.
“The roles and the specific documentation come back with each project, so that’s why we can use our template again and again. The big advantage of Bricsys 24/7 is that we pay a fixed amount per year, regardless of the number of users. That is why it is very easy for us to give external companies access to our environment. With the role- based access rights, we have ensured that everyone can only view those documents that are intended for him or her.”
